Locomotives & Rolling Stock

Here at the Arlesdale, we have many locomotives for you to see.

Bert, Rex and Mike shown at the main shed.

Steam Locomotives:

Rex - Rex is a bright green locomotive. He has been on the railway the longest, and can sometimes be the wisest. Alway's there to help another engine, he is a role model to all.

Bert - Bert wears a dark blue. He is a rather splendid locomotive, and is quite hansome. He prefer's to pull coaches, but doesn't mind hauling hoppers of gravel.

Mike - Mike has a deep red coat of paint. This makes him sometimes think he is the best locomotive on the line. Despite this, he still gets the work done on time.

Jock - Jock is the newest built locomotive*. He earned his name by another engine saying that the colour of his undercoat was the same as his old railway's, and that they were called 'Jocks'.

Stella - Stella was a locomotive designed by Heywood. When the railway was in England, they sold her to keep the others running. Now, she came back to us and works as the station pilot.

Iona - Iona used to work at a gasworks. She came to the railway and was heavily rebuilt into a tank engine. She was not happy in this form, and was converted to a tender engine. She is probably the most energetic of all the engines.

Diesel Locomotives:

Frank - Frank is a grey diesel locomotive. He has a tendancy to be grumpy, but is still a useful performer.

Blisters 1 and 2 - These two diesels are twins. They are painted Black, with Wasp stripes on the front. They have teething problems, but work as hard as any other engine.

Sigrid of Arlesdale - Sigrid proudly sports a two-tone blue colour scheme. She was formerly known as 'BoCoBo', because of her wheel arangement, but she likes the new name.

Passenger Coaches

Passenger - The railway has Maroon Bogie Coaches, which were built in England. The uncovered ones are used for Summer, and covered for Winter.

Freight - Bogie Hoppers are the most common wagon on the railway. They were built in the railway's workshops for transporting ballast to the North Western Railway.
